Beyond the practice of the monastic life, the Buddha was aware of the value of managing one's finances as a layperson, especially in light of how crucial it is to our day-to-day well-being.
In Week 5, our resident Finance Director, Desaree, and Marketing Director, Yong Qing, touched on the Buddhist view of money about how wealth is merely a tool and not inherently good or bad in and of itself, and what the Buddha had to say about financial management.
The Buddha provided wise counsel on how our lifestyle decisions might directly or indirectly effect our financial management decisions because he saw that managing money is an essential component of living a happy lay life. Ultimately, the Buddha counsels us to practice mindfulness when it comes to our spending and learning to be content with what we have so that we can live a happy, comfortable and honest lay life.
To end off the session, we had a mini CNY celebration with some vegetarian Yu Sheng.
