ALL ABOUT SMUDC

SMU Dhamma Circle aspires to be a place for students to learn and live life through the practice of mindfulness, compassion, and wisdom. As a non-sectarian Buddhist society, we welcome every student to join us in our Dhamma sharing sessions and activities.
First started in 2014, the club aims to create a cozy environment for Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike to discuss the teachings of the Buddha and clarify doubts or queries students have regarding Buddhism and its practices.
At SMU Dhamma Circle, our weekly sessions consist of light-hearted sharing and discussions on topics that are chosen by the speaker of the week. Students join our sessions to learn more about the Buddha’s teachings and explore how Buddhism can be applied to our daily lives. In one of the sessions, a Buddhist monk could be sharing about how the Buddhist teachings can help us handle stress. In another week, an alumnus could be leading a discussion on various misconceptions of Buddhism.
